In the early 1970s, Kjørbekk Industrial Area was established, by then Mayor Sigurd Namlös. The first to establish themselves were Schriwer Garveri, G. Coward, Tanche Nilssen, Gimsøy Kloster (Elfas), Bergsli, Chand Pharm, C. Christoffersen etc .. In the 1980s Rødmyr area came as a supplementary extension of the Kjørbekk area as then almost fully established. Today it is registered approx. 500 companies in our area. It became clear that the companies that belonged to the Kjørbekk and Rødmyr area needed a firmer foundation in an organized association. This is to take care of further business development of our area and marketing, as well as contact with municipal authorities and urban development. Today the most successful companies are located in our area. It is the area with the largest increase in turnover and most (new) employees in the entire Grenland region. 

KRIO was established in 1991 with the board and marketing committee. In 2004 we steped up our organisation, and hired a part time employee.

In 2016 we had our full-time employee, and we are now building a new organization KRIO, which is Kjørbekk and Rødmyr's interest organization. It is our hope will be for the best of our area and the entire district. The organization's objectives are: - to coordinate, develop and safeguard the interests of its members. - to participate in the development of Kjørbekk and Rødmyr as a business area, including by being represented directly or indirectly in the district's business organizations and governing bodies. - otherwise to be the driver and leader of relevant matters in the district.
